'Yes I happily do!'

In hindsight a verry fitting answer as at that point I had no clue yet what was gonna be requested. And so the story, that turned out in quite the journey, began.....

Rainbow High commission ' Mr. & Mr. on their wedding day.Daria Roselyn in a made to order outfit at NewDollOnTheBlock
The hubbies in love on their wedding day.

The task at hand; Mr. & Mr. on their 'Yes I absolutely FF-ing do day'.

Initially M. ,the guilty as sin hubby on the left in the picture, wanted a Rainbow High custom in the likeness of his groom H., to surprise him with. But we'd barely finalized the discussed wants, wishes and possibillities or M. asked if he himself could be added as well. What's better than a hubby? Two hubbies!!! LOL.....Now this was a commission request I was very excited about from the get-go as I definately love myself a good dose of Glam Rock. Apart from that, it would be the first time for me customize a male RH doll, not even a male but 2 males, a real life couple on the biggest day of their life! An adventure I would happily embark on. Love, glam, rock, details, details, details and than some. What's not to like? Absolutely nothing! ...Or so I thought...

Detailed time consuming work but plain sailing.....right?

No not really! After the majority of materials that needed to be sourced and purchased were at hand, I already had a good idea in mind of how I was gonna approach this project. I was gonna take care of the hair first as doing it in the end wouldn't be an option in this case. The back of the heads would be worked on to achieve a more realistic likeness, it would be a 'no go' to dye and style after that. The risk of staining the work already done and having to start from scratch again would be borderlining the 100%. So off I went as planned.

I started with the removal of the flocking and surprise, surprise..... of course there were seamlines and 'engraved' numbers I stupidly had not taken into consideration. At least it was nothing some good old sanding, buffing, elbow grease and extra time would take care off. Up to the hair dyeing. No matter how I neutralised/counteracted the original hair colour of both dolls, a green(?) undertone persevered. Trying to do the obvious by neutralizing the green with red did absolutely nothing. And after many attempts I used a semi-permanent root touch up product to eventually solve the problem. With all the needed stronghold styling products used to style the hair they were not ment to be brushed anyway. Just wished that I had thought about that sooner. With the hair finally done and safely wrapped into latex gloves, (won't say what I thought when I first saw the dolls with 'rubbers' on their heads...LOL) it was time to concentrate on the suits.

The suits, let me tell you, I was very much looking forward to. Nice to know what you're heading for, for a change. And how difficult could it be? I've done some pretty nice coats, pants & blouses before. Hell! I've done some detailed gorgeous and neatly sewn 'make-it-up-as-you-go' evening dresses. You just draw up some patterns, adjust existing ones, make a few mistakes, correct, adjust again and merge till you get there. How wrong was I?

Rainbow High handmade doll fashion for Sabrina at NewDollOnTheBlock
Rainbow High Sabrina showing off her new handmade ensemble

Definately one of my favourite Rainbow High

cuties. Her facemold is very similar if not identical to Shadow High Nicole's. And although I'm a big fan of the more 'mature' dolls in general, these innocent looking ones surely won me over. But than again the lists (yes lists) of favourites is getting larger and larger.....One for the cuties and one for the beauties!

Sabrina is still awaiting some serious hairstyling but being just as gorgeous as is, it's her time to shine in her new colour matching outfit with rose gold embellishments.

I've been playing around with some weird holographic fabrics that feel like something between paper and plastic for her outfit. Initially I didn't have much faith in their use but they turned out to be pretty resilient and are great to layer with tulle as I like to do. Needless to say I already drafted and cut patterns in different colours for some of the other ladies in need of wardrobe additions.

Miss Richie is getting ready for her fitting. Not hers to keep but surely hers to model!

After fitting the bodice upon completion, she's back to try on the matching peignoir for some final adjustments.

And than it's all Savannah's, the lucky lady who gets to wear and keep this gorgeous lingerie set. She's been listed in store now, ready to be envied and admired overhere!

More fittings in headquarters to be expected soon. I heard through the grapevine that Miss Cheng is booked in for a lingerie fitting these days......
